Throw Your Name in the Hat

Friday, August 12th, 2011

Doesn’t it seem like every presidential election heats up earlier than the last one? The 2012 election is still over a year away but candidates are doing whatever it takes it get ahead of the competition.

Yes, it’s always better to be prepared, but is it possible to enter too early?

If somebody announces his candidacy too early, is he hurting himself by giving voters more time to get to know him, see his flaws, and dislike him? By throwing your name into the hat early, are you not just providing more time the voters and media to dig up dirt?

Isn’t it best to fly under the radar while doing all the prep work before throwing your hat in the ring? That way, when a candidate announces his candidacy for the White House, he’ll be like a breath of fresh air. All the voters will be tired of all hearing of all the other candidates and it’ll be nice for them to have another option.

A political party loves it when one of its members is in the White House for a first term, seeking a second. That’s the current situation for the Democrats who hope to re-elect President Obama. Even though people know who he is and they have seen him in the White House since 2009, party members will stick with him since he was their ticket in the first place and they’re riding the momentum.

As of right now, we know former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Representative Michele Bachmann and others have already thrown their names in the hat to run. Texas Governor Rick Perry is set to make his official announcement Saturday and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty has yet to decide whether or not he’ll take a shot at it.

A question to ask is whether or not Bachmann, Romney and Perry announced their candidacy too early. Will Republicans be tired of them when the time comes to pick a candidate to run against Obama? If Pawlenty does run, when should he announce his decision?

Tim Probst loves putting in his two cents regarding any political issue. He currently resides in Texas where He does a good job of hiking, fishing, camping and other outdoor activities. He does a good job of staying up to date on the latest news political news and information. To get an idea of his some of his favorite writings, check out Presidential Candidates.

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Unlike many other countries’ political scene which appears to be going through a lot of conflicts, Canadian politics is not suffering such terrible conflicts. But it does not mean that Canada do not face any political problems. The Canadian politics do not have violent situations instead it’s frosty. You must have a bit of knowledge about Canadian politics prior to looking at some problems of the politics in the country.

Canadian politics and British politics are pretty much same. It is quite right to say that Canadian system’s foundation is from British system. Canada is a federal democratic state with the Queen of England being the head of State, although the Queen has very limited functions. Then there are two houses, an upper house and a lower house. Upper House is called the Senate while lower one is known as the House of Commons. the House of Commons is made up from the selected members from different Canadian political parties, they are responsible for legislation. So, this is the house which basically plays the role in Canadian politics.

Now being a developed country, Canada does not face issues like poverty, unemployment, law and order situation etc but in fact the issues are relatively different. Among these, the most common issue, the Canadian nation is facing, is regarding the healthcare. Although, every Canadian citizen enjoys basic healthcare facilities, yet they want an even more improvement in the healthcare services being offered to them. Greatest problem is the growing trend of privatization of healthcare facilities in Canada nowadays.

Apart from this issue, is the burning affair of Canadian troops’ presence in the one of most unsafe and hostile countries of world; Afghanistan. Many of the Canadians find themselves opposing this idea of having their troops in the war-ravaged area of the world. As thousands of Canadian troops have put their lives at stake so, many Canadians want to pull them back to their land. Thus, this affair is the one of most heartly debated upon every now and then by many Canadians.

Then there is another debate as well of the harmonized sales tax, which the Canadians are not in favor of. Coordinated tax is typically the combination of federal and provincial tax. Canadian government wish to introduce this tax as soon as possible however the people of Canada are still not ready to accept it, as a result a hot arguments have erupted.
