Amanda’s Song – Relating To Amanda Knox
Wednesday, September 8th, 2010Amanda’s Song found on Internet sites supportive of the young American Amanda Knox sang this song to her Italian friends. Amanda has been imprisoned for 26 years, pending appeal for the sexually-violent murder in Perugia Italy on 1 November 2007 of Meredith Kercher a female British Student. Web sites sympathetic to Amanda and her innocence promote this song (down-loadable) stating that she is innocent because not one shred of evidence links her to the murder.
The song known as Amanda’s Song has been sung by Bobby Darin, Lucas Wong and Friends and others. The lyrics read: Softly, as I leave you softly, for my heart would break if you should wake and see me go, so I leave you softly, long before you miss me, long before your arms can beg me to stay for one more hour or one more day; after all the years, I cannot bear the tears to fall. This may have you searching for a tissue.
Forensics revealed that Meredith Kercher died at 11 pm but it was not until midday of the following day when Amanda phoned police on returning to the flat shared by four people in total, as she discovered Meredith missing, blood and signs of a break-in. The body of Meredith was found by police after breaking the door of her locked bedroom.
It did not take long for forensic detectives to find that Meredith had been violated sexually and murdered by several people. They also concluded that breaking and entering was a mock-up. Soon their suspicions led to the arrest of several young people. Amanda who had showered in the bathroom (not deplete of the blood of Meredith on the floor) seemed shifty enough to lead to her detention also.
Together with Raffaele Sollecito an Italian and Patrick Lumumba a pub owner, Amanda was arrested. Rudy Guede (Perugia) was subsequently arrested too and Lumumba released simultaneously. Rudy was sentenced to thirty years imprisonment for sexual battery (on appeal reduced to sixteen years). Raffaele and Amanda received a 26 and 25 year sentence for sexually-violent murder respectively.
DNA from Amanda was found on a knife, but nowhere else in the flat. Rumors of anti-Americanism arose, distinctive people feeling this fouled her trial. The Knox family runs a supportive campaign for her, using a professional Public Relations Expert.
A spate of law suits arose. Knox against Fiorenzo Sarzanini for his book called Amanda and the Others, wherein he used court documents illegally and dishonored her privacy by writing about her sexual activities. Amanda received 40,000 Euros in damages. Lumumba sued the State for debasement, unlawful imprisonment and subsequent loss of business for which he was awarded 4,800 Euros.
Italian police are suing Amanda for criminal slander, the case postponed to October 2010. When you listen to Amanda’s Song the matters of the case flood your mind. Do you sympathize with the victim who lost her life so cruelly or the possibility that Amanda Knox has been sent to prison innocently? The song could just as well relate to Amanda Knox going to prison, or Meredith Kercher to her death.
