As vital as the heart may be, however just like other organs in the body like the kidneys and colons, it can be replaced. However replacing the brain is impossible, it is the total command center that controls the entire body from regulating your heartbeat to controlling your entire central nervous system.
It is amazing that it’s only now that mental workout is more widely accepted after earlier generations had made great use of it. It’s also surprising why it doesn’t play a much larger role in our educational system. The prevailing view is that our youth are not stimulated enough in school, so what better way than mental workout. A significant number of people push themselves to the brink to stay in top physical shape so how is it that we neglect the most important part of the body. The brain controls everything, decides your mood, emotions, your eating habits etc.
Get control of your brain and it will be your most powerful ally, let others determine it for you and perhaps not. The brain transmits millions of messages all over the body in seconds, the brain itself has 100 billion neurons. The brain’s potential is truly limitless. The brain controls so much of your life but get a hold of the control panel yourself. It’s likely to be the century of the brain, so much more resources will be poured into study of the brain.
The brain must be exercised most importantly of all the organs. If you feel under pressure from stress related duties, it is even more important to exercise your brain daily. It can be as little as waking up earlier than usual and taking a more scenic route to work, or start off with a different radio station in the morning or different genre of music.
One could easily begin a daily mental workout routine by just listening to classical music. There can be no other signs of real baby genius than that of Mozart. His father was also a successful composer, so we can picture a baby Mozart receiving all those magical sound waves through his mom’s belly that gave him such a significant advantage in his early days. Could you imagine what his kindergarten teacher had to deal with. Giving other kids their ABC’s and Mozart is working on concerto in D major. So until I see another case of early superb genius from other genre of music, I would highly recommend classical music as the best. Studies prove that listening to Mozart can increase your IQ, boost your creativity and lower anxiety.
The universe is ever expanding, so should the quest for increasing knowledge be expanding. We must all be open to learning something new every day. You can grow new connections to your brain, you can discover new ways of solving problems, new ways about thinking about things. If you have fear of doing something, then learn to overcome it, take on the challenge and you will look back and be glad you tried it.
Doing a daily mental workout should be common sense. The brain is a most complex organ that should be exercised daily like other muscles in the body. Just like any other muscle, it needs daily exercise to grow and function at its peak. Just as it takes time for beginners in the gym to grow to their maximum strength, the brain too needs to be warmed up. Begin with basic mental workout to build up your confidence and watch as you begin to realize your full potential.
You may feel confident given your chosen profession that you possibly don’t need a daily mental workout. However the brain is such a complex machine that even if you are constantly thinking hard on the job, you might not be developing new and different connections in your brain regularly. Just as though you always took the exact same route to work every day. The brain gets lazy and used to the same old routine. The brain needs change and stimulus. Frankly speaking most people these days whether in the mail room or in the penthouse suite are probably performing the same daily work functions every day.
